Providing one-on-one coaching for climbers and hosting private yoga classes continues to bring me joy. The following testimonials are from clients who I have instructed in yoga as well as those who I have coached in climbing. Coaching and instructing is offered in person, and digitally via video call, allowing for feedback in real time.
Climbing Coach Testimonials
As a climbing coach I assist clients in reaching new heights in their performance. Together we grow stronger safely by practicing mobility while building on our understanding of ones limits in movement. Exploring new ways of thinking about moving on rock as a beginner or a skilled climber, and then doing it!
“My 1on1s with Joff were incredibly well custom fit to what I needed at the time. After a short check-in, every sense was made to feel deeply, yet so calmly enveloped, I was guided in breath and yoga, ending in an unforgettable and resounding shared meditation. Then an invigorating very IN-my- body intro climb was held where Joff trained me in some basics within the stunning gym.
I felt safe and a great level of trust built between Joff and I so appreciate our sessions spent together.”

“Joff’s Yoga for climber’s classes has truly become a regular self-care practice for me. Embracing the mind-body connection through conscious movements that have intentionally been chosen to strengthen and improve flexibility tailored for climbing manoeuvres.
From Joff’s joyful presence and clear instructions to his impressive sharing of human biology and yogic knowledge, I have left every one of his classes feeling revitalised!”
– Shaun Ziman; (Web Developer)
“I never thought Yoga was for me until I met Joff. I have been attending his Bloc11 classes weekly now and they have instilled a deep sense of calm in me, after each and every one.
I have been an avid climber for many years and can not believe it has taken me this long to try Yoga; I am very happy with my increased mobility, much less cranks in the body, and particularly the mind; and this is all thanks to Joff’s tailored classes and encouragement. “
– Ruan De Clercq; (I.T. Specialist)

” I never thought I could just sit still for a long period of time. After my personal private sessions with Joff, I have been able to drop into my body through the breathwork we did, and having found a deep sense of stillness, I admire the multiple facets of Yoga I never knew existed.
This has had many positive knock-on effects in my busy life. I now meditate often and check in with Joff on the regular. I recommend Joff to all needing to slow down and find meditation, the breathwork and type of Yoga they need to cope with a fast-paced frantic work life. “
– Nathan Miller; (Industrial Design, Product Development)
“ I love Joff’s classes because they are very “human”. He is not trying to be anyone other than himself and is authentic to the moment. This often manifests in humour or some poetic observation. Unlike many pretentious yogis I have visited, Joff is none-other than himself, thus inspiring others in his presence to be themselves.
His classes are a great mixture of masculine and feminine and perfect for the athlete and nature lover in us all! He is integrous to the service of Yoga and passionate about climbing, (trail) running, most if not all body movement, particularly outside in the epic Cape nature. Highly recommended if you resonate with this! “

“ My first yoga session with Joff was dynamic, funny and challenging. The City Rock yoga studio has an inviting feel with a high ceiling and stunningly sun-lit, as we moved through a swift vinyasa flow. We sweated for a while; our sun salutations separated by glute activating crescent/warrior poses. After that, we had lots of fun falling and standing out of aeroplane/sunbird pose and laughing hard trying harder Asana poses with the odd selfie- pic.
To end off, we did some serious breath work and deep limb stretching with a rubber band. I got great circulation, muscle activation, mind-calming, and a few great laughs from our class. I would recommend it for people looking to get inspired into yoga, as well as for more practiced yogis.”
